Book Bus at Kitwanga’s Art in the Park

We were happy to welcome the new Book Bus van to Kitwanga at our annual Art in the Park August 11th… that ended up in the Rec Centre due to morning weather. People were so happy to welcome Ruth and look forward to the regular return of the Book Bus to our communities. Ruth says she had a great time seeing everyone again. “I loved the art work and Noah’s veggie table and Ezra’s spontaneous ukulele, and all the people on the bus.”

New Book Bus Debut!

We are so excited!  The new Book Bus made its debut at Hazelton’s Pioneer Day on Saturday, August 10th. Thanks to all the people and businesses that made it possible, especially Pretivm, who donated the funds to purchase the new van.

Sunday, August 11th, the Book Bus will be at Art in the Park in Kitwanga.

Keep watching for the return to a regular schedule of visits to all the communities we support.

A new season means another chance for you to HELP US DONATE to an amazing group of people doing great things in their community!!

Over the past 18 years the BOOK BUS has been visiting communities in the Upper Skeena area providing books, free of charge, to all ages. Currently LOGS is in need of a new book bus as the old bus is no longer road worthy. The society is raising money to purchase a new bus so they can continue providing the community with free books!

BVCU will donate $5 for every person who follows these two steps. We will continue to do this all the way to July 31!

Stay tuned. There may be an announcement soon.

Book Bus on Hiatus

Unfortunately, the Book Bus will not be operating this month and possibly longer. The bus will not pass its safety inspection without a significant amount of repair work so the L.O.G.S. board has to consider repairing or replacing it. I’ll post more information as it becomes available. Please pass this information on to people who use the bus but may not be online.

Little Quilts for Literacy

Please share this far and wide! Shirley Hobenshield has set up an auction to help support the Book Bus. She has donated 23 beautiful little decorative quilts to be auctioned off. Thank you, Shirley!

Today’s Book Bus run will be shortened because I need to get the bus in to Smithers for the annual safety inspection. I’ll be in Anspayaxw and Sik-e-dakh for about half an hour each. Watch this page for updates and arrival times.
